My question is this: The cross spoke composite wheels on the 00 2.8 are 17X7.5 in the front and 17X8.5 in the rear. I don't like them, but I do want larger wheels than the base 16 in wheels. Hardly anyone makes wheels in this exact combination. Could I go with 4 17X8's or 4 17X8.5's or 4 17X7's or do I have to go with this exact combination of wider wheels in the rear than in the front? Obviously BMW chose this combination for a reason. Was it simply to make it more difficult to buy aftermarket wheels or was it for the handling of the car? Do I mess up the handling of the car by going with 4 17's or 4 18's all the same size?
