: Has anyone driven both? In my area none are available for test drive. I am particularly interested in which one has better low end torque. At what RPM does the power really come on. Which feels quicker in acceleration by the seat of the pants? Thanks.
I have driven both (owned an M). My seat time int eh Boxster is about 5 minutes. The M feels like it has more torque (225 vs 236) but it doesn't feel that much different.
IMO (no flames please), if I were making same decision today, I would pick the M roadster over the Boxster S (Boxster S isn't 10k better than the M). If I was making the decision in a year when the 320+hp M roadster is out (I suspect the MSRP on the M roadster will be near 50k), I would get the Boxster S (that is if I fit in it).
The real sleeper in the whole deal is the upcoming Z3 3.0. It will have near the perf of the present M roadster at a bit less the price. The only problem is it won't have the cachet of the M badge. Another winner might be the resale value on the 240hp M roadsters.
