: AIR IN MY HAIR--an ode
: Mister Bruce, your call last night was so very nice
: To my erstwhile tiring day, it did add spice.
: Insipred me, it did, to take a drive
: Into the mountains where God's handiwork is beautiful and alive!
: Left work at two and drove off into the blue
: The weather was so warm, what else could I do?
: Took the top down and packed it away
: Lowered the windows so in the wind my hair could sway.
: The Z was tight and handled well
: Going around Watauga lake really went swell.
: Ascending the mountains into the Town of Boone
: Was so easy, it ended just too soon.
: Finally I found the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Blowing Rock
: And then I threw the car into gear; moving faster than a jock.
: Up on the ridge the sky was blue, so very blue and clear
: The wind was breezy and cool, it felt as thought October were near.
: Hawks were soaring high above the tree
: As I neared that lonley sentinel, Grandfather Montain, I did see.
: Crossing the Viaduct gave views of the east so fine
: So beautiful and perfect, God's paintings' sublime.
: Soon I departed the Parkway for higher ground.
: On toward Roan Mountain mountain on the roads I had found.
: Roan stands high, over 6,000 feet to be sure
: On the westward side was ice, cold and pure.
: The wind howled and the air was cold
: But in my convertible I drove, the driver so bold.
: Twisting and turning down the mountain side
: Watching for more than one rock slide.
: But soon the day ended and nightfall came
: Ended too soon, what a shame.
: What a wonderful day to drive in my Z
: What a wonderful place to live and be.
: The one thing that did make be sad is that I did not see
: Anywhere I went, another Z. :)
