It's not really BMW CCA's fault, they are caught in the middle.
It goes back to BMW AG wanting one organization per country to work with regarding BMW car clubs.
Right now the BMW ACA club is considering becoming a BMW CCA club because we lost our seat on the International Council of BMW Clubs (we were there BEFORE CCA was but lost our seat due to council politics, not CCA). Without ICBC representation we can loose press release information from BMW NA and be sued for using the Roundel in our club logo. I can't go into it because I am a board member of the ACA club.
Needless to say BMW AG tells BMW NA what to do. They want one representative per country and it is BMW CCA. BMW CCA has to do what they do according to their policies. I have a hard time believing that they would want to squash the Homecoming but they have there own problems and events to administer.
Like any big company BMW AG wants to protect it's self from disreputable people. Unfortunately sometimes the reputable ones get caught in the cross fire of corporate lawyers splitting hairs over the very people they should be embracing (…hey look at all the FREE advertising…).
