: Both Jim Conforti and Steve Dinan seem to be the guys with the best air intakes. But, when I look at the performance figures from them, it looks to me like an air intake does not do much performance wise. Neither shows dyno. results for the air intake alone. It is always bundled with their chip. When you compare the chip alone dyno numbers, with the chip and air intake dyno. numbers, it seems to me that the numbers are very close. There does not seem to be much gain from adding an intake over the chip alone.

I have detailed dyno. numbers from Steve Dinan that anyone can pick up by going to his shop. Again, the detailed numbers do not show a dyno. for the intake alone and do not show much of a gain for the intake plus chip over the chip alone.

: Am I missing something? Please tell me I'm wrong! I would love to have a few extra horses from an intake that really works.

I was having the same concerns, however, I went ahead and installed the Dinan cold air intake and Stage 2 software.

After driving the car for a month with the intake and software, I went to the dealer yesterday and drove a stock M.

There is an improvement you can feel. The car has more low end torque and accelerates smoother. Also, the intake looks and sounds better and it appears to slightly reduce the resonance from the exhaust.
