Hi guys.
Had the Z3 for about a year and was wondering if I was getting the best performance by the way in which I was shifting. I usually shift about 1000Rpms lower than redline because I heard that the midrange torque is lower in the rpm range. Is this correct, or should I be redlining it always. 2nd gear usually only lasts for a short time when I am really racing the engine, am I shifting this gear correctly. It seems like I am accelerating quickly, not just as fast as the 6.3 which is what car mags get. Maybe my technique is off?
Only been driving standard for a year or so, any insight would be appreciated. Also passing on the highway, best in 4th, or do you down shift to 3rd around 50 mph?
Thanks
Joe R
