Help - whooshing sound (archive)

Help. I have a brand new, 3 day old 2.8 and am hearing a whooshing sound sort of like a fan motor from the rear of the car. Is this normal? It is especially noticeable with the top up and the car sitting still. Road noise will cover up the noise and lowering the top will let enough background noise in that you really have to listen closely to hear it. It seems to be coming from directly under the place where the subwoofer is. When the car is started, it takes several seconds before the noise becomes apparent. There is no noise outside the car - sounds perfect. So is this sound normal? Hard for me to say since the car is so new to me. BTW the car is running great and I love it.
