Z-3 2.8 V. 328Ci (archive)

Hi,
I have a choice between the 328Ci and the Z3. I really like the looks of the Z3, but am wondering several things. Most of all safety. (Both are 2000)
I am unable to find BMW Safety specs on any of the .GOV or .ORG vehicle safety sites for any model of BMW.
Also how does it handle compared to the 328? Are the Premium PKG Seats comfy or firm? And what does the sport suspension do for the ride expieriance?
All in all the Z3 costs about 3k more than the 328. I really want the Z3, but have seen a Miata in a crash and am leary.
