I live near JD and think his product is very well deigned and of high quality. However I prefer the leather/mesh. I would think that if you intend to use it in a cold climate, for heat retention,then the solid plastic may have an advantage. Here in Florida, when they get used, it more to reduce interior air flow. The leather and mesh is a lot easier to remove, roll up and store in car and out of car in its bag. The mesh/leather doesn't scratch or need cleaning. I guess if you need a place to stick decals, the clear screen would be right for you.
