Hurt to top off dino oil with syn on ///M?....more (archive)

My 2000'///M needs a half quart+ at 2,500 miles. From the past posts and other info I am fairly sure it has dino oil but will be changing over to synthetic at 2,800+/- miles.
Is this a problem to use synthetic or should I use dino?
What brand dino should be used??
