Hello,

I am considering upgrading the stock sound system in my '00 Z3 2.3. After gutting the passenger side (removing everything except the carpet) I was thinking that I could mount a speaker behind both seats since there is about 3.5-4" of padding, I don't even care if it sticks out a little bit. I figure this would be enough room for a 8" or so, the MTXs I'm looking at have a mounting depth around 3.6"... I know, I wouldn't have much room for an enclosure but I still think it would work. I think that I could take the small enclosure I have and maybe make a port that runs to the bottom near the seat. Has anyone done or seen anything like this?? Or any other custom speaker set-ups for that matter?

Another question, what is a good way to mount metal brackets to sheet metal. I would imagine that there is something less extreme than Mig or Arc welding that wouldn't require much of a financial investment in equipment (ie. only a propate torch or something like that)

Thanks,
Tom
