I've taken an M3 to Mexico City (same engine) and my 540 to Monterrey numerous times. All but one of the Pemex franquicias (franchises) I filled up at had Premium, which is roughly the equivalent of our premium. Even if you fill up with Magna Sin (87 octane) it should be ok... the more important gauge is the condition of the station. Do NOT fill up if the place looks older and run down (for mexico, they'll ALL look old by 'murican standards)... the newer/busier stations will have better gas with less chance of junk.

FYI there'll be two or three colored pumps. Black is regular ol' gas... HORRIBLE stuff, don't use it. Green is Magna Sin, red is Premium.
