Thanks for your concern but its misplaced. Stories of Americans harmed abroad gets wide news coverage the same way air disasters do. It would be invalid to conclude from these anecdotes that travel to these destinations is unsafe, just as it would be invalid to conclude that air travel is generally dangerous when you hear about a plane crash.
I've spent a lot of time in places like Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba, (fomer) USSR, Morocco. But probably the most dangerous place I've been is the United States. When it comes to personal safety, I'll take Cartagena any day over Miami or NYC.

: in a body bag. That's if they even find your body. Is this an area with which you are very familiar? Have heard a few horror stories firsthand from people who have had cars and RVs stolen at gunpoint down in remote areas of Baja. That was a few years back. Is it any safer where you are going?
