I've built many fiberglass subwoofer enclosures and while some require internal bracing (just as a MDF enclosure does) they are VERY rigid.

Fiberglass is an excellent medium if you know what you are doing.

I've got a subwoofer enclosure that I built in my 911 that sounds great and is completely rigid.
