Actaully, French hydraulics ae pretty good. Look at the Citroen whch used a central high pressure hydraulic systm for brakes and adjustable suspension.

Re "German" cars. I have three. One was actually built in Germany (and it has a Hungarian engine). The other is, of course, made in Spartanburg, and the third in Mexico.
