But it would never approach the rigidity of mdf. Surprising as this may seem to DC, a speaker enclosure must be much more rigid than a boat or car body. In fact, these structures rely on calculated flexibilty, where speaker enclosures are allowed none, zip, nada. Of course, that is the design objective, not what is necessarily achieved. My point is that the design criteria is not similar. But for your purposes, it should be just fine. As for expense, you bethca, custom enclosures are not cheap. It's part of what permits car stereo shop owners to drive p-cars ;o). It's amazing what a little know how and eager young wallets can do, ain't it? However, if you're not afraid of a little handywork and some safety precautions, you should be able to construct your own with little expertise. Like I said, this has been done for some time. I think it is very nice of DC to share his methods, as he has continually made efforts to share what he does know with others on this board. And unlike most free advice, his is actually worth something. Now that you've got DC's attention and interest in your project instead of the earlier dismissal, a little cooperation may lead to another solution to the Z3's meager sound system. Good luck!
