Thanks, I have a '00 Z3 and in addition to that I had to stick a small slotted screw driver behind two tabs on either side of the pedal under the base (within the carpet facing the rear of the car)

ps. A note to anyone considering removing the front piece of the carpet (to lay down dynamat or whatever) be aware that you will probably have to cut the carpet, but it isn't visible...
