: 1) Remove fuse #31
: 2) Attempt to start car (it won't start but try anyway)
: 3) Replace fuse
: 4) start car

: This will reset the fuel gauge/instrument cluster. If you do this and you still hyave problems with the fuel gauge, then you probably need a new sending unit. If the problem goes away but returns later on, you are probably doing something that screws with the electrical system e.g. refueling while leaving the radio is playing etc.

: : Had just filled the gas tank on my M Roadster during a roadtrip, when suddenly the fuel gauge needle suddenly went to empty and the red light turned on. It stayed like this for about 10 seconds before the needle went back up to full. The engine was not affected by this at all and I didn't notice anything else bizarre. But it kept happening every two minutes or so. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else? I can't imagine it being from bad gasoline. Maybe something wrong with the sensor in the fuel tank?
