An interesting hypothesis, but I really think that IF BMW would to merge or be bought by anyone right now, HONDA would be the best bet. Why?

1. Honda has developed a reputation as an excellent engine builder...clearly a rival to BMW.
The two research departments could get some real synergy and put everyone else in the bag.

2. Honda doesn't entertain the kind of upscale market that BMW does...despite Acura. Nor does BMW have the "family man" cars in the key North American market. Honda does. Obviously the two companies would "fill in the gaps"

3. BMW helps Honda presence in Europe, Honda helps BMW in Asia.

4.BMW Motorrad and Honda Motorcycles..instant marketshare on a very high profit product. I saw a statistic that Motorcycles accounted for 10% of Honda's sales in NA, but 40% of their profit.

SO if any of the BMW MUNICH staff read this page, that's my OP.
