Supra turbo only beats Viper when it's slightly modified. in stock form they run only mid 13's. when you slap on downpipe, exhaust, fuel cut defencer and a boost controller on a supra, it's considered as basic performance upgraded(BPU). the cost is only ~$2000 and you will have 400+hp to the rear wheel, i think that's already more than what a 450hp Viper puts to the wheel.
i personally had some 1st hand experience, i once raced a Viper GTS (it had "Vroooom" license plates, how cute) in my friend's BPU supra on high boost, i walked from him easily when my 2nd turbo kicked in.

the internal build quality and durability of imports is better than domestic i believe. the stock tranny and engine block can handle nearly 800hp without problem, while i have seen Vette killed its motor when spraying 150 shots of NOS.
