I have had the same problem with my 2.3 Z3 ever since I got it. The dealer claims they can't duplicate it, but It happens to me all the time. It feels just as you described... like something "clunking" under the drivers seat. Anyway, this is not normal, and if your dealer finds the problem, PLEASE let us know and I will do the same...

: This post may seem silly to some people since it demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge in general automotive transmission. Anyways, here it goes...

: I have noticed from day one a loud banging noise whenever I shift into and out of the first or the reverse gear. When this happens, it feels like something like a shaft is been shift into / out of place right underneath the driver seat.

: Is this a normal behavior and why does it happen? If
: not, any hypothesis as to what might have gone wrong ?
