Ok, very simply. This has either been the subject of a service bulletin or at least several meetings, so BMW is aware of a problem with premature rust. Specifically, the problem may be due to some rust build up on NEW roadsters' clutch assemblies that is causing the trans to hang up. If you hear--and likely feel--a "clunking" sound when you press the clutch pedal in while in first or reverse, this is a likely source. Good luck.
