I did a search in the archieve for "Clunking sound and clutch" and it generated many hits, dating back to 1998.

Apparently this has been a problem and is quite common, not only to us Z owners.

After combing through these articles, I am leaning toward dismissing the problem as a normal occurance and let it go for the time been.

If anyone else has new insight / lead on this "problem", please do share it with the board.

Thanks.

: This post may seem silly to some people since it demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge in general automotive transmission. Anyways, here it goes...

: I have noticed from day one a loud banging noise whenever I shift into and out of the first or the reverse gear. When this happens, it feels like something like a shaft is been shift into / out of place right underneath the driver seat.

: Is this a normal behavior and why does it happen? If
: not, any hypothesis as to what might have gone wrong ?

: Thanks in advance.
