I had a custom box made and also had to cut a hole in the trunk for air to travel inside the car. Most car audio shops are not even willing to make a decent looking box for a Z3 cause it takes a lot of time and the end result may be BAD.

Your best solution is to have a fiberglass custom kick panel made that goes at the passengars side foot area. Inside the box, use a JL Audio W6 or Kicker Solobaric, or some woofer that requires little SPACE to produce BIG BASS....
