Hello, your vehicle, which you indicated to be a 99 Z3 2.8, is or should still be under the BMW Factory warranty. The best advice I can say is to bring it to your local BMW Center for them to inspect and if neccasary repair the creak... It sounds to me as though it could be a normal characteristic of the E36/7 Z3 Top. I have troubleshooted many a convertible concern, perhaps there is a BMW Bulletin on the top creaking which the tech at the center will also look for. Bring it in. Alpinweisszwei
