Well maybe just a regular car wash where they have those big vaccums so I can clean up these floormats a bit. They got a big dose of greasy footprints during a winter emission inspection, followed by a chemical foam cleaning. The foam worked but it was weird.
Ask the Z3 Gods and ye shall receive.
As I waited for JonT at Zane’s Car Wash, listening to the Knicks last (winning) minutes on the radio JonT was a few blocks away at the Scrub A Dub Self Serve Car Wash.
Presto!
Before we hit the Self Serve, we used the floor mat washer at Zane’s. It works, but it leaves your mats really wet. Really wet. We killed some time using the vacuum but the floor mats stayed very wet.
We took advantage of a nice empty lot across the street. I spread Emmy’s floor mats across some rocks, feeling very much the pioneer. JonT set his up on some bushes.
We worked on the interiors, Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner. I only realized later I was supposed to buff off the conditioner. Ooops. I ended up using a wet cloth. Oh well, it looks good.
We had pretty much run out of things to keep us occupied while the mats dried, even though JonT was using his hands to force out the water on the floor mats. I had a couple plastic bags so we put the floor mats in the bags and grooved on down to the Scrub a Dub.
Same rules at the Scrub a Dub, but much nicer people. We put both our cars into one stall, one behind the other. I put my small wastebasket (bucket) down between the cars, poured in some of my Zaino Car Wash and emptied my Evian large sized water into it. It’s not Evian, its just water I carry for such washing emergencies.
While JonT did the Car Wash Soap thing, I soaped Emmy up. I did her wheels first with a tire brush.
This time I got her roof too.
By the time JonT was done, I moved into place and rinsed her off. I gave the hose with time left to the guy behind me.
I pulled my car into the shade, finished washing the bits I missed on the wheels and used a shammy to take off the remaining water.
Then I gave her a coat of Zaino (2?) and used a newspaper to windex her mirrors and glass. (I missed the side passenger mirror)
I was in hog heaven.
We both applied Rain-X.
The floor mats were still very damp but doable so we took them down from the fence where we hung them.
I decorated Emmy with way too many magnets.
We used the TalkAbouts to get to JonT’s and he showed me how to get back to 78.
The car looked and felt great.
My baby’s gonna be 3 years old in a couple days and she looks almost new. I just love the hell out of this car.
When I got home, a guy came over to me in the garage- turns out he’s the owner of that silver Z3 I have been seeing in the garage. Very nice guy. He is not on the web at all so I didn’t really know how to tell him to stay in touch.
Door Guards, Unscrew the antenna... and goodnight Emmy, I’ll miss you until I see you again. Thanks for a great day.
