My experience has been that there is far more build quality difference between a 5 series and a 3 series than there is between a German built car and an American built car.

: The BMW factory in SC does a GREAT job. A friend has an older 318ti that's still in incredible shape, my new M5 has more squeaks than his car does! (E39's are notorious for a rear seat squeak that's just a pain in the ASS to get rid of).
