: There is a BMW "factory" upgrade for the original stereo that includes two 3" speakers (behind the seats), a subwoofer and an "improved" amplifier, which uses the plug you found. Cost is about $150..Some people found the upgrade adequate, others thought going aftermarket is a better alternative...
