SUV, how many come off the lot off-road ready? 1 maybe 2 brands. More people buy these for reasons the truck can't perform off the lot! HOw many buy these in southern climates? Alot. What, for the performance in the rain? Joke. Although it does enhance stability, front wheel drive got me throught 13 years of Syracuse weather. Most people up there have front wheel drive cars, but there the 4 wheeler has a reason to exist. Around here I would easily put my top down more times than 4 wheel drive is needed. Not to flame 4 wheelers, . I'm not sure what your point is, the obvious? As consumers I think (opinion) most non-serious (not car buffs) buy cars almost soley on looks, then they drive it! Remember, most of the population is in cities, but most of the land is open and flat. Are you bill gates? Are we all going to be driving the same car? :)
