you don't seem to have much understanding of what motivates people to buy luxury items. i assure you price has little to do with it. value is subjective. those who understand themselves and know what is important to them, make puchasing decisions that result in many happy and satisfying experiences. those who rely on other people's opinions for a sense of self-worth forever chase the latest fad and spend hours typing lenthy posts to justify why they aren't happy and why anybody who is happy must surely be deluded and needs a wakeup call.
as for real-world performance, in this city of portland that you seem to reside in, a few of your statements just don't hold:

- my daily driver ford focus passes corvettes and such right and left. for less than 1/4 of the price.
- fun roads are within 10 minutes from city center (skyline blvd and anything branching off it, a few short streets in west hills, anything in the columbia gorge, etc)
- a city-owned racetrack is 15 minutes from city center, with an average of 3 club events every 2 months, almost all of which are open to any make/model. yes, my same ford focus has been on the track more than once.

this is my reality - if yours is so miserably different, may i suggest that the problem is you...
