After reading your comments I was left scratching my head. Virtually everything you posit comes only from your own beliefs, which ends up making most of what you say irrelevent to everyone but you.

People buy cars for lots of reasons. Sometimes it's performance (like me). My M-ster offers performance not only on the twisties, but on normal roads in everyday driving. When somebody does something stupid on the freeway, the performance lets me drive around it. When someone cuts me off and nails the brakes, my big brakes help me stop in time. When I need to merge, my performance lets me do so effortlessly.

But there's more to a BMW than performance. Quality of workmanship, driving feel, comfort and others. I freely acknowledge that these are subjective items. They have value to some and less to others. Apparently what BMWs offer does not appeal to you that much. That's fine. That's why Chevy makes Vettes, Porsche makes Carreras and Honda makes Accords. Different strokes...

My point is that I don't see the value in you coming onto this board and trying to convince a bunch of passionate bimmer-files that their decision to buy (or want) a BMW is not cost-effective or somehow foolhardy. You came to the wrong place.

You say that you are in advertising. What I know of successful advertising firms and people is that they know the demographics and psychographics of their target audience. I think you need to do some more research before you deliver your next missive.

My 0.02.

Rick
