The only thing that I was working on when I blew the dimmer was testing why the diode wasn't lighting for the shift knob... darn hot shot EE that I am.
Anyway, the long weekend has a trunk organizer and a tranny fluid change in it even if I can't seem to work a multi-meter properly anymore!

: You probably fried the rheostat in your headklight switch. The only way to fix this is to buy a new one. I have done this (different car than the Z3) and it is not pleasant.

: What else were you doing besides changing the knob?
