It is a problem with both my E36 328is and my M Roadster. They have fixed it a total of 2 times in the M and 1 time in the E36. They do not have a fix and the replacement sending unit will have to be replaced every 10,000 to 15,000 miles.
BMW will not admit it is a problem but will replace it. Document it while it is still under warranty so that you can fight to have them fix it when the warranty expires. Good Luck
