It's not just Z3's, all cars seem to have easily nicked windshields.
And you have to remember, that it's what's deflecting all the airborne stuff that goes above/past your paint (which also seems to nick easily).

I read once that the glass used in windshields is purposely softer/weaker, in order to try and reduce the injury to stupid people who don't use seatbelts.
My personal opinion is anyone who doesn't wear seatbelts doesn't have enough functional grey matter to try and save from being splattered all over a windshield.

: Has anyone ever noticed the soft glass on Z3 models?
: If you look on even Z3s with low mileage you can see small chips in th windshield. I noticed this while using rain-x on the glass.
