One week ago took my '99 2.3 (11/98 build) in for servicing. Three recall issues were also addressed...and one of the three was a software reprogramming to deal with this gauge fluctuation problem.

No idea how many models the recall notice covers, but it is worth asking about. May not cover all models all years, but for those whose cars ARE included, this latest software fix MAY help.
