Your absolutely right. I was merely trying to explain the problem, I hope that my advice was in no way advocating replacing the vehicle. My point was simply that BMW misdesigned the fuel sending unit. They simply did not contemplate the corrosive qualities of american gas, especially that used in the northeast. Consequently, this problem is a reoccuring one which BMW for whatever reason, cannot fix. In my case, my car was particularly susceptible to this problem and at some point, BMW had to be held accountable. After all, other manufacturer's producing vehicles for the American market have not had this problem, and BMW has not had this problem with its five or seven series models. Maybe you have more patience, but me...I gave BMW two years and seven tries to fix the problem. They didn't and still haven't. So I demanded a replacement vehicle, and BMW agreed. Maybe you have more patience than I do. God bless you for it, but I drive roughly two thousand miles a month and I can't afford to be without a properly functioning gas gauge.
