Most real torque steer has been removed, but originally, the transaxle (differential + transmission) was offset from the center of the car. The distance to one drive wheel was different than the distance to the other and when you floored it tended to pull the wheel to one side. Car manuf. have added extra shafts to remove this problem. What you see now days is either a tendency for the wheels to go straight or on my front driver, to resist any changes in the steering.
: Why does Torque-steer occur in FWD cars? I assume it has something to do with the shifting of weight during hard acceleration. I have never experienced torque-steer in my previous underpowered Japanese econoboxes, but I am sure it is a problem that plagues higher performance FWD cars.
