Great info, I did not know that. What was told to me was a simple concepts. On a front wheel drive car, the front wheel is doing to actions at the same time, both driving the car forward and turning. In any racing school, you learn that tires do one thing best and two things at the same time poorly. So turning your wheel and jumping on the gas will break the tires away causing understeer almost immediately at the wrong time. On a rear wheel drive car the use of power to enhance a turn is called power oversteer, this is when you jump on the gas and turn the wheel, the back end comes out quickly due to it releasing from the ground and slides sidways quickly. On a 4 wheel drive sports car, the rear wheel overall forward energy is divided between 4 tires and is less likely to upset the turning moment with the addition of power.
