Johnny...
I found a piece of foam about 4 inches long that fell out of my car for an unknown reason and I showed it to one of the factory employees at the homecoming. He said they use that stuff all over the car after it is built to get out any creaks or other noises. I'm sure there are regular spots like was mentioned below, but he said they just go through each car and put that stuff around.
