Spare tire for ///MZ3 (archive)

I recently discovered that Kumhos new street tire, Ectsa 712, comes in a 205/40R17. Since I know that a standard front tire, deflated, will fit in the trunk I figured this should be an easy fit. I ordered an ATP 5 Razza 17x7.5 rim with a mounted Kumho from Tirerack. Note, tell them you are using this as a spare as they might give you a hard time about putting such a wierd size on an ///MZ3 . The tire fits in the truck but a 7" wide rim would fit even easier. Total was $290 shipping, probably to expensive for a spare but what the heck. You will also need a jack. I am using the scissor jack out of my 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme. This jack works good and uses those jack pads on the car. Be careful of the jack you choose since this tire is lower than stock (about an 1") so that a jack that may work with the stock size tires, may not work with this spare. The car looks seriously stupid with this tire but hopefully you won't have to use it for long. It will work for both front and back. This takes up a lot of space in the trunk, but you can put a lot of stuff inside the rim and you could also chuck that high tech fix a flat.

If you have the time, I have heard that some 16" rims will fit on the ///MZ3. This may take some trial and error, but could reduce the cost by about $100.
