replacing front struts (archive)

How much should I pay to have my front struts replaced for an M-Roadster. I have new Koni strut inserts and I did the rear shocks myself. Has there ever been an article on this board for front strut removal and replacment? I was quoted $450 labor for replacement including front end alignment (not at a dealer). This seems high.
