Look through the archives on this BB. This posting explained the proceedure: http://www.bimmer.org/z3/messages/archive/msgsy1999w21/82449.html I am considering purchasing the new 2001 Z3 3.0i (which is a truly INCREDIBLE drive). This would be my first venture into the world of the Z3. However, there is a concern and I am hoping that someone out there will have some helpful information and be kind enough to share it with me. Although the Z3 would not be my "family" car, I do have children under 12. Does anyone know whether I can purchase an on/off switch from BMW in the rare and unexpected event that I absolutely have to have one of the children in the passenger seat? (The dealer I am working with advises that it does not install such switches.) If so, does anyone have any experience or knowledge with how reliable those switches really are? Also, in the unexpected event I would get in a serious front-end collision with a child in the passenger seat, is anyone aware of any published collision tests involving the earlier model Z3's? Many thanks for all replies.
