Probably, because you get rid of that 1.75" hole in the inlet into the box. The rest of the hose is about 2 5/8"s so that is decent. The twists and turns make its effective size smaller though.

Cutting the hole is scary but actually fairly easy if you go slow and keep checking your work. Or cut it a little smaller and sand it out to size worked pretty well too.
