Yesterday I took the plunge and made my first performance upgrade, the Fogg air intake modification. Getting the parts needed was the hardest part. The Home Depot near me is always understocked and didn't have all I needed. Luckily, there are a lot of them in the DC area and another one was only a few miles away. Damn that Friday rush hour traffic! Don't they know that I have something important to do! The nearest Pep Boys was in a scary part of town and suspicious looking characters coldly eyed my Z as I pulled in the lot. Thank heavens they had what I needed and it was a quick stop.
the next day I assembled everything together along with the instructions printed out from mz3.net and went to work. Contrary to most of the progects I undertake, this one went without a hitch. The new parts were assembled and in my Z in a little over 2 hours! It can't really be this easy, I said to myself, maybe I did something wrong. Another read through of the instructions proved that everything was accomplished and I jumped in the car to try it out.
Damn this Saturday mall traffic! The forces were working against me, my usual route was full of blue hairs and out-of-towners. A quick exit to the beltway and I was free!
Accelerating into traffic produced a wide grin. The stories were true. The engine pulls hard all the way to the redline! I kept in fourth gear at 60mph and stepped on it. Again, the engine roared and accelerated like never before. This was too good to be true! My 1.9 is no wimp, I don't care what people say! You want a piece of me? C'mon! Right Here! I'm ready!......
Well, needless to say I liked the Fogg airbox mod. If you haven't done it you are missing out.
