Just wanted to survey others' experiences with wet weather grip with the stock 8080's vs. other tires. I have a 3.0 with 8080's on factory 17" rims (225 front and 245 rear) and until today have had only limited wet weather driving time in this car. I had the rear end break loose slightly twice on medium speed (30mph) freeway curves on wet pavement (not actively raining, no standing water). I was, I thought, driving fairly cautiously (esp. after it happened once!). Though these were somewhat unsettling, the car behaved itself quite well with only a slight rear-end shimmy. I'm not sure if DSC kicked in -- wasn't really watching the little light at that particular moment! My question is this -- do others experience this type of wet weather roadholding from this car, and if so has anyone noticed a difference between the Dunlops and other tires? I'm still learning the car's limits, and I will certainly be more careful in anything but dry road conditions. Perhaps I should pursue a little track time to better explore this ... Any experiences?
I have Dunlop's SP9000 and all I can say is that they are great on wet surfaces. It rains a aweful lot here in Taipei and I have not had any slippery experiences in my Dunlops. Great tire and quiet ride too.
