Tree sap is basically a sugar soluton, so warm water should take it out. I would soak a sopong in warm to hot water and leave it on the spot to soak it out. As the top is canvas, some of it could be imbedded in the textile fibers. So after cleaning and removing the surface contamination, some of the sap could remain in the fibers and attract dirt. Using some rubbing alcohol (IPA) mixed with the water will lower the surface tension of the water and allow it to soak into the fibbers of the top better to solvate the imbedded sap.

Next time - don't par under trees - sap is not the only thing that falls on cars parked under trees - tweet, tweet, splat!
