I personally like that car very much because it absolutely reflects the modernistic trend in Europe of today. This car has got the diesel engine from the BMW 540d. This engine is rated at 245 hp and has awesome torque. Every new hot concept car has to be equipped with a diesel engine these day’s in Europe, that’s the latest in fashion trend. In Europe, we see a lot of hot tuning packages from various manufacturers such as Alpina Schnitzer and the lots these day’s. And believe me, these cars will accelerate like hell due to their high torque numbers. When BMW released their new 3 liter straight six and their 4 liter V8 diesel engines, they were kind of a revolution for the market with diesel equipped fast sedan cars here in Europe. The availability of such powerful diesel engines immediately made these diesel equipped cars acceptable, even for sportscar drivers. Suddenly you could see these diesel cars on the fast lanes of the German Autobahn (freeway)...
This one now’s just provocative... If one would combine the Z3 body with the turbo charged 3.0 liter straight six diesel engine, one would end up with a car that has the same hp like the old Z3/2.8, but with much more torque... On the other hand, if one would install the diesel V8 engine in the same manner as Schnitzer did it with the gasoline V8, one would end up with the same hp as the American spec. ///MZ3, but with much more toque. And last but not least one would have an even lighter car because the diesel V8 is an all aluminum engine whereas the straight six is an iron engine except for the cylinder head.
So my message here is, do not underestimate the modern diesel engines of today. And as you will clearly notice here, even at the diesel technology, BMW is at the leading end of the game...
Wish you a short waiting time for your silver beast...
