You got it John!!! Thanks for commin', it was a real blast...that night stuff was a real hoot, and I think every one had a great time...did you get enough to eat????? No body goes away hungry when I cook!!!! WE gotta get some of the Baddies down here for one of these......Take care and I'm glad you came down to have fun with us....Tom
I drove down to Millerton Lake in the Sieera Nevada foothills East of Fresno to attend another Autox hosted by the Central Valley BMW CCA. Our own Tom Bell (Tbell) was the lead host and chief chef. This AutoX promised to be a little different from most others as the final three runs were conducted at night in a totally dark parking lot with only your headlights to guide you through the cones. We did get to run three practice runs during daylight to get a feel for the course layout.
I got down to Tom's house about an hour before setup to go over Tom's rollbar set-up. I had seen it before at Laguna Seca but this time Tom gave me a step by step guide to the installation process. Pretty straight forward. I really think I am going to do this setup before next year.
We were then joined by my other Laguna Seca running buddies,Eddy Funahashi, Peter Kwan and Ron Cortopassi plus several other CCA folks who loaded the cones and other equipment on Tom's car trailer. We made the short drive to the Lake and set up the course. This was an interesting experience for me as I had never seen the setup process. It involves a lot of cooperation and hard work from a number of people.
Joining us for the day were several members of the Fresno Porsche Owners Club. Great guys and great drivers all.
Eddy (E30 M3), Peter (E36 M3 and Ron (Acura NSX) all drove
excellent times but Tom In his 2.8 Z3 just ate up the course. His times at night were even more phenominal. The Porsches had a couple of great drivers too. I did OK but nothing to brag about. Got totally lost on the course during the first night run.
A great time with some great people. This is what it's all about.
