Ok, so what's the best place to order all of this stuff? Is there like one URL I can go to, or do I need to go to an actual store in the Real World?! *shudder* ;)
And thanks for the info about the supercharger--do they make them for Z3s? I've never heard of one--do you have any links or info for those? Thanks a bunch.

You might want to consider x-pel(essentially an invisible bra). If you read all the post on chipping paint you will understand what a heartbreak on a new car they can be. Of course it doesnt show as much on your color as a black but its still a pain.
now as far as yearning for an M goes - wait a while you might find that the 3.0 is quite satisfactory - I hardly use the extra grunt of my MZ3 - but this is Australia where the predominant speed limit is 35-45, and the bloody speed cameras are everywhere. If its not enough a supercharger is a viable alternative to the hassle of switching cars. Dinan amongst others make fine s/c equipment tailored to the BMW six. You will get close to the same HP as the M and similar torque, but much lower down where you can really use it in urban driving. Cost 3-5K in USA, more overseas. Good luck with the shark
Hi all,
Ok, I've been reading (and lurking) on the board for a few weeks now, and I finally got the time to post--so here it is:
I just got a new 2001 3.0i Roadster (Steel Grey) from Santa Monica BMW (great folks and service btw) about one month ago, and I LOVE it! But the thing is, I was wondering--what is it that one should do in terms of the basic required accessory purchases one should make for minimal upkeep?
What I mean is, I've seen plenty of pages of upgrades and stuff, but never one on "Here are the 5 things you need to buy at the bare minmum to make your life easier" (stone guards, chamois, cover, windscreen, etc?), and I'd like to know what they are.
The reason for this is that as much as I love my 3.0i baby (I really like the flared rear better on the new 2001 models too), I'm hungrily eyeing the new M Roadster (316 bhp or so, right?) and being the speed/upgrade freak that I am I'm really considering it. There isn't anything wrong with the 3.0i, but the idea of that much more power is just something that appeals to _me_, and makes me want to have it.
Of course, I have no idea on availability or price, so it may be a moot point as far as me getting it (does anyone have any concrete info on this?--please reply!), but in the meantime I'd like to have the minimum essentials for my car--and ones that I might be able to transfer over to the new car (if I get it), so I don't waste any parts or money.
Finally, as to why I didn't just wait for the M--let's just say I waited a LONG time for the 3.0i--without even knowing that it was coming. I moved to LA in late Feb. and rented for basially 6 months and finally got tired of looking, and hemming, and hawing, and ended up in Santa Monica BMW one day (after having been there a few months back and checking out a 2.8) and saw this beautiful Steel Grey 3.0i Roadster sitting there, and just decided that I had to have it--this was a few days after they came out. I drove out with it the next day (after I got my insurance!) and have been incredibly happy since, but I'm still thinking about the M.
Btw, any other owners out in the West LA/Westwood area? I've seen a couple around here I know, but not sure if they're locals. Reply if you are! :)
Ok, sorry for the long post, but hope I get some responses. Just looking for info on:
1) Those 'essential' upgrades for your Z3
2) Any info on the new M Roadster (with the new M# engine)
3) Any other Z3ers in the LA area
Thanks all!
