Bad luck with VDO Oil Pressure Sender (archive)

I recently installed a VDO oil pressure sender in a customer car and I had a problem. The gauge worked fine, but the output on the sender to the idiot light on the dash did not work. When I queried North Hollywood Speedometer on this, I was told "Oh yeah, about 1 out of 100 are bad". Yikes. I hope there are no VDO parts on the ESA cargo elements of the Space Station.

You would think 100% inspection would not be unreasonable on a part like a pressure sender.
